Points positifs : Nous avons adoré notre séjour dans ce Cottage, tout était parfait, la position très pratique pour visiter les plages du débarquement , tous les équipements et le petit déjeuner délicieux ! L’accueil de nos hôtes a été exceptionnel, un grand merci encore pour votre gentillesse, nous espérons réitérer notre séjour une prochaine fois !

Points positifs : Un petit déjeuner sur mesure, un accueil chaleureux, une maison très agréable en pleine campagne, au calme et proche de tous les points d'intérêt. Nous souhaitons à Kim et à Mark le meilleur pour la suite.

Points positifs : L'accueil très chaleureux des propriétaires des lieux, un couple d'anglais fort sympathiques. Le grand calme : il s'agit d'une ancienne ferme rénovée, située en pleine campagne, à l'extrémité d'une longue impasse. L'environnement : un bocage vallonné, très arboré, avec des chemins creux, des champs de dimensions modestes entourés de hauts talus en terre, sur lesquels pousse une végétation variée : magnifique et reposant. Le petit-déjeuner offert, qui est généreux.

Points négatifs : Ce n'est pas tout à fait une location indépendante, mais plutôt un hébergement chez l'habitant ( au contact cela dit très agréable ). L'endroit n'est pas très facile à trouver - mais on y arrive ! Il s'agit en fait de l'Impasse de la Haye, située bien en dehors du bourg de Couvains ( sur la gauche, sur la petite route qui mène de Couvains à Cerisy ).

A Quiet Normandy Base

Points positifs : What a find Marianne Cottage is! Sadly, Kim was away during our stay, but Mark more than made up for it with his hospitality. We were visiting Normandy by car, and while the cottage was in a beautiful and quiet country setting, it was easy to access all the sites. This 200 year-old farmhouse has been lovingly restored and renovated by our hosts with a great eye for detail. It is bright and airy, clean and comfortable. Mark made us delicious breakfasts and dinner, and encouraged us to wrap up the leftover pastries each morning for a snack during our day of touring the area. We exercised all our French skills during the day, but appreciated coming back to great conversations with our English host each evening and each morning, learning about the area and getting great suggestions for visiting Normandy. We highly recommend Marianne Cottage!

Points négatifs : St. Lô, the nearest town with shops and restaurants, is a fifteen minute drive. But that made it even better to stay at the cottage at least one night and join Mark, a professional chef, for dinner.

Perfect

Points positifs : This is a beautiful property run by a lovely couple who could not do enough for you. Breakfast was perfect and Mark whipped up some lovely food in the evening on request. Kim was the perfect hostess and both of them really made us feel at home. We had secure undercover parking for the bikes. The rooms were spotless and the beds very comfortable.

A home away from home in a nicely renovated farm house

Points positifs : Mark and Kim are very warm and welcoming hosts, making sure you have everything you need and feel at home in their nicely renovated farm house. On the other hand, they allow you to have your privacy in a separate section on the left hand side of the upper floor of the cottage with two bed rooms and a bath room with a slip-proof shower. In the morning, Mark freshly prepares a very nice continental breakfast, welcoming you down to the kitchen with the smell of freshly baked bread. The cottage is centrally located for visiting on the one side Mont Saint Michel and on the other side Bayeux and the D-day beach sites. The rural area is very quiet and surrounded by other farm houses.

Points négatifs : As a very minor point, especially if you are rather tall, you can easily hit your head on the door frames. But you tend to learn to mind that very fast😉. The roads in the last kilometers up to the cottage are narrow and winding. On the up side, traffic is very low, so we never had to back down for a car coming from the opposite direction.

Really good base with secure parking and friendly welcoming owners.

Points positifs : Friendly and welcoming. Secure parking in a garage for our motor bikes. An ideal base for a sightseeing holiday. Good breakfast.

Points négatifs : Nothing really. It’s a bit remote and the last roads leading to property are narrow and twisty.

Most enjoyable, the hosts were great.

Points positifs : Our group had a wonderful 4 night stay with Mark and Kim. We ate with them every evening and with Mark being an excellent cook the food was delicious. Marianne Cottage is great value for money and we would all recommend a stay there. Our hosts could not do enough to make our stay a most pleasant one. A plus was our motorbikes were garaged.

Points positifs : We arrived on our motorcycle to a very warm welcome from Mark and Kim, our room was lovely with a nice comfortable bed. The bathroom is very modern and spacious, we had a excellent breakfast each morning with fresh croissants and baguettes baked by Mark, with jams, cheeses, sliced meats, yogurt's, fruit juices, tea and coffee. We opted to have our evening meals there for a very reasonable charge mark is an excellent Chef an produced a lovely evening meal each night. We arrived back one night soaking wet Kim took our motorcycle kit Mark lit a fire and they dried it all out for us. They are a very lovely couple and nothing is to much trouble for them. We will Definitely be returning. Sue & Simon
